When I was the Governor of Kwara State, I ensured women had significant representation: SARAKI

Image
When I was the Governor of Kwara State, I ensured that at least all the Vice-Chairmen of the Local Government Areas in Kwara State were women. I also ensured that women had significant representation in my cabinet and across the various ministries, departments, and agencies. Again, as the President of the 8th Senate, I worked with my colleagues to try to pass the Gender and Equal Opportunities Bill three times to ensure that women had increased participation in governance and access to more economic opportunities. This is why, earlier today, at the meeting with PDP Zonal and State Women Leaders in Abuja, I once again reiterated our party's resolve to the continued inclusion of women in governance and leadership — as we work together to #GrowNigeria.

Former President of the Senate, Sen. Bukola Saraki, has stressed that women and youths must form critical components of government in 2023 for the development of Nigeria. He said, “I think both women and the youths have a great role to play because at the end of the day governance is about providing for the people. “70 per cent of them are under 25. They must play a role. That role means elective and appointment positions. They must play a role,” Saraki said. The immediate past Senate President added that, “From my time as governor and National Assembly, I’ve a
